Miami International Airport Commits $746 Million to Strategic Expansion

Miami International Airport (MIA) is poised to meet a new challenge in 2024, with a projected record of more than 55 million passengers. This growth not only highlights the strength of its operation, but also heralds a series of large-scale renovations and expansions designed to transform both the infrastructure and the traveler experience.

According to experts, this will be the third consecutive year of historic results for Miami International Airport, to cement its place as a crucial global aviation hub.

The South Terminal: Key for Growth

One of the most outstanding projects is the remodeling of the South Terminal, which will involve an investment of US$746 million. A new K Wing will be built, with three levels and capacity for up to six gates for narrow-body aircraft, which will significantly improve the airport’s operational capacity.

In addition, new commercial areas and modern airline lounges will be included, adding a touch of innovation and comfort for domestic and international passengers. The redevelopment will begin in 2025, with an expected completion date of 2029.
