Florida Governor Ron DeSantis unveiled his budget proposal for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, prioritizing major improvements to the state’s transportation infrastructure. The plan allocates nearly $15 billion to projects focusing on highways, rural roads, and key industries such as aerospace and maritime transportation.
A major highlight of the proposal is the investment in Interstate 4 (I-4), one of Florida’s busiest highways. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) aims to ease congestion on this roadway by constructing auxiliary lanes at ChampionsGate and World Drive, with a target completion date by the end of 2025.
FDOT Secretary Jared W. Perdue emphasized the importance of accelerating these projects to reduce traffic and enhance residents’ quality of life. However, $1.7 billion still needs legislative approval to expedite these developments.
