President Donald Trump demanded the removal of all federal prosecutors who were appointed during Joe Biden‘s administration. In a message posted on Truth Social, he noted that the Justice Department has been “politicized like never before” and assured that the measure seeks to restore confidence in the judicial system.
Trump: Call for an Immediate “Cleanup”
Trump justified his decision by asserting that the country needs an impartial judicial system. “We must ‘clean house’ immediately. America’s golden age requires real justice, and that begins today,” he tweeted.
The firing of prosecutors from previous administrations is a common practice with changes in government. However, the move has generated debate, especially since Attorney General Pam Bondi, in her confirmation hearing, had already promised to eradicate the politicization of the Justice Department and strengthen public confidence in the institution.
Musk Supports Reduction of Government Apparatus
Entrepreneur Elon Musk backed the cuts pushed by Trump and proposed eliminating federal agencies to make government more efficient. He argued that the United States operates with 450 agencies and questioned how many of them are really necessary.
Musk defended the reduction in the number of public employees and suggested offering compensation packages while modernizing government technology. He compared the situation to the cuts he implemented at X (Twitter) after its acquisition, claiming that by reducing the workforce by 80%, the platform significantly improved its performance.
He also criticized the U.S. government’s IT infrastructure, describing it as obsolete and full of systems that do not communicate with each other. For him, digitization and technological modernization are key to ensuring a more efficient government and laying solid foundations for the country’s economic future.
