The White House confirmed that, following Trump‘s instruction, negotiations will begin with the Kremlin. They will first work on a strategy to stop the conflict, and later on the organisation of visits between the two leaders.
A possible Putin trip to Washington would represent a significant change in the relationship between the two nations. Trump has repeatedly stressed his good relationship with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, with whom he last met in Helsinki in 2018.
